Introducing your new County Commissioner for Durham Scouts

We’re delighted to be able to share with you that following a selection process and the agreement of the National Appointments Advisory Committee, Bryan Johnson has agreed to be the new County Commissioner of Durham Scouts.

Many of you will know Bryan from the many roles he has held in the County and of course in his role as acting County Commissioner for the last 6 months.

Bryan will bring to the role management and leadership experience developed in his professional working life, along with his Scouting experience and knowledge gained over many years. Bryan demonstrates a real passion for Scouting, and values what it delivers for young People and adults in our communities. I and the search group are certain that Bryan will continue to develop the already fantastic Scouting provision that you all help to deliver in Durham.

Bryan officially commenced his appointment on the 1st September.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
