District Transformation

Date: 8th Jul 2024 Author: Durham City District Team

As you might have seen, we are now well on the way nationally on our roles transformation. This has been happening in Durham City too, and I’m delighted to announce the below structure will come into effect as of our AGM in September. This is modelled on the structure in place both nationally and in Durham County. Further information on the teams structure is available on the Scouts Website.

Some of these roles are very similar to what already exists in our current structure, and we are keen to retain members of the current team where possible. To that end, we are delighted to announce the below individuals will transfer across into the new structure:

  • Darren Melroy, our District Training Manager & Appointments Secretary, will become our Volunteer Development Team Leader
  • Slimer, our current lead on comms, media, equipment hire, and digital administration, will become our Support Team Leader.
  • Alfie Baker, our incoming District Youth Commissioner, will become our District Youth Lead.

We’re continuing to work with other members of the existing district team to identify where they would like to support. Anybody else across the district who is interested in any of the above roles/tasks is encouraged to contact dc@durhamcityscouts.org.uk to express their interest or for a no-obligations discussion.

The Trustee Board will meet shortly to determine its own structure and open appointments process prior to the AGM.
