May 2011 - Scouts go on County Kayak Camp
On Saturday the Scouts went to Hetton-Lyons Country Park and tried out a number of water activities on the lake. Lewis, one of Framwellgate Moor’s Scouts commented, 'It was the first time I've tried out a Sea Kayak - It was cool.' On Sunday all of the Scouts did a river trip from Durham to Finchale Abbey. The Scouts found it fun, although also difficult because the water level was so low. The Cubs had a great time on Sunday 15th May on this year's District Day Hike. They hiked near Penshaw Monument. One Cub said "It was great being out with friends in the countryside". David Baker, one of the leaders involved from Framwellgate Moor said "We were lucky with the weather as although it looked as if it would rain we only felt a few spots. We'd like to thank Sarah Dodds for organising the day."
March 2011 - Scouts visit Town Hall
Our thanks go to the Mayor of Durham, Mamie Simmons, for allowing the Scout Troops in Durham District to visit the Town Hall over a series of evenings in March. These visits have given lots of young people the opportunity to learn more about their local history and the important role played by their local government. The Scouts found it was particularly interesting to learn about the Town Hall and the formation of the Mayor's Bodyguard.
18th - 20th March 2011
About 40 Scouts from across Durham City met at Helmsley Youth Hostel for this year's walking weekend. David, one of the leaders said "I enjoyed providing opportunities for the Scouts to learn new skills and also chances to improve their existing talents. On Saturday my group, which included Scouts from Framwellgate Moor and Elvet, went for a walk close to Helmsley. On Sunday all the Scouts and Leaders climbed Roseberry Topping."13th March 2011 - District Music Day
