Scouting in the United Kingdom is organised in Scout Groups, Scout Districts,
Scout Counties and Country Headquarters. All Scout leaders are unpaid volunteers,
many have full time jobs and full social lives. Adults aged 18 years and over
can be accepted into the scout movement subject to CRB check, group and district
approval. Groups are often keen to make occasional use of other adults with specialist
interests they want to share with young people - if you think you may be able
to help do get in touch. When an adult decides to become a
leader, a leaders warrant is issued after 3 modules have successfully been completed.
They are then on your way to becoming a fully qualified leader and receiving their
Wood badge.
Becoming a leader is a great way to put something back into
the community. It is highly rewarding to help develop young people and will probably
develop skills that you never knew you had! Being a Leader starts with a commitment
of about an hour a week. As you get more involved this may increase but it doesn't
have to!

If
you would like to know more about becoming a section assistant or joining the
District executive committee please contact the
District Commissioner or one of the Group Leaders
for more information.
